After some long weeks of negotiation, we have finally secured the lease on a premises in Portobello for Breadshare to open a bakery/cafe. This will give us much needed space to expand production and provide a base for progressing our broader social objectives. These include franchising the Breadshare business model to help other communities establish bakeries making real bread; community engagement through workshops, volunteering and school visits; and educational programmes aimed at promoting a better awareness of real bread.

We are hoping to have the premises fitted-out and ready for business before Christmas. However there is much work to be done and any offers of assistance would be appreciated. We are also looking for memorabilia of Portobello and its history to decorate the cafe. This could include items of Buchan pottery, paintings or photographs.
