Each month Breadshare offer a variety of events either at our bakery in Portobello or shop Alex Bakes by Breadshare (on the corner of Princes Street & Lothian Road located at the Cornerstone Centre @ St Johns).
These include Sourdough Workshops, Bread Making Courses, Pizza Making Workshops, Tea Tastings and workshops for adult and children groups.

Gift Certificates
You can purchase gift certificates valid for 12 months for any of our workshops. Just contact us by email, phone or purchase a physical voucher at one of our Breadshare outlets.
Sourdough Workshops
These workshops discuss what sourdough is, and how to manage them. We will discuss your sourdoughs as well as the sourdoughs used by Breadshare.
Participants will be given sourdough starters to take away along with recipes, so you can experiment at home! If you have your own starter, feel free to bring it along to discuss or ask questions.
Sourdough Bread Courses
In this hands-on 1 day course you will learn to make our most popular wheat and rye sourdough breads, and enjoy a handmade sourdough pizza, made by you, for your lunch (included in the price).
Courses are usually run from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch and incorporate the popular sourdough starter workshop.
Sourdough Pizza Workshops
Come along to Breadshare Community Bakery’s interactive sourdough pizza workshop & lunch and learn the secrets of making sourdough, while enjoying a delicious pizza hand made with your chosen toppings.
Includes: workshop, sourdough starter, lunch, tea or coffee. Other drinks are available to purchase on site.
Workshops for Schools
Breadshare hosts school visits to the bakery. In a 1 hour session, children learn about how bread is made, what grains are used and where flour comes from, and then make their own bread. Each participant is given their own bread kit to make their own bread at home.
Cost is £5 per student.

Groups can be accommodated in the bakery for special events. Please contact us to discuss your event.
